About Cool Congregations

This Cool Congregations workshop is a “train-the-trainers” event. Your team will be given all the tools and knowledge needed to bring Cool Congregations to your home congregation and sustain it. The tool is fun and easy to use, and the workshop will help you develop a strategy for successful use in your congregation. If you’ve been looking for the activity that would get the whole congregation involved in stewardship of the Earth, this is the workshop for you. The three-hour workshop will include breaks, talking time, and help you to understand:
  • What’s the Cool Congregations program?
  • ABCs of climate change
  • A religious response to climate change
  • How to measure your carbon footprint and find ways to reduce it
  • How to organize a Cool Congregations program
  • A Hawaii utility representative will share information on energy efficiency programs to help you save energy and money.
  • The training includes a manual and CD with resources for success, including a specially designed tool to calculate your emissions footprint.
